Ending Service & Final Celebration

Come to Pathways on Sunday, October 27th for the final Sunday church service. We will wrap up our series “Remember.”

The elders and staff would like to invite you and your friends to the Ending Service & Final Celebration of Pathways on Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Pathways Church. This evening will be a time to reflect on the past 20 years of Pathways history, as well as a final time to worship God as a community.  Childcare provided.

Please visit the Facebook Event and invite your family & friends to attend.

As you may have heard on September 29th the elders and staff announced that Pathways Church will soon close. After October 31st, 2013 we will no long meet as a church. The elders and staff are thankful God guided this difficult decision and have found much comfort knowing this is the healthiest option for the community of Pathways. There are several factors that played into this. Any of the elders or staff are happy to meet with you to discuss this further. You may also find a FAQ sheet at the 10 Minute Party with more information. The link to the audio from September 29th is on the Pathways Church facebook page.

The elders and staff recognize that God is calling us to finish strong and to provide a plan of care in order to help the members of Pathways find new church homes. Please contact Rachell Sohlden, Care Pastor at rachell@pathwayschurch.org; Katey Edson, elder, at ktedson@gmail.com; or Jessica Mycoskie, Administrator, at jessica@pathwayschurch.org for more information, dates, and details about this Care Plan. This Care Plan is also available at the 10 Minute Party. We hope you join us and bring friends to these events in November & December. It would be an honor to walk with you in this process!

“To those who have once attended Pathways Church:

For a church that’s not even 20 years old, Pathways has made a huge splash on the spiritual landscape in Denver and beyond. It’s been a remarkable and very crazy ride, to be sure. Thousands of us have come through the doors of Grant Ave, and 16th and Pearl for a season only to scatter elsewhere. And now it’s time to say good-bye.

The Temple Events Center has been sold to our friends at Denver Community Church and the papers will be signed on Halloween; I’m not sure why, but that just seems appropriate! When the doors close for much needed renovation – the plumbing is no better than we we were there in 2006 – Pathways Church will close as well.

On Wednesday, October 30th from 7:oo p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Temple we will gather the scattered for an evening of remembering, reconnecting, and closure.  It is a very unusual thing to intentionally and graciously end a church.

We’re getting the band back together, literally, as Rachael McClair and company will lead us in worship through song alongside the current Pathways Worship Team. Ron Johnson, the founding pastor, cannot join us but will be there via video to tell the origin story of how it all began. Staff and elders from all stages of Pathways will be on hand.  We’ll tell stories, join together in prayer and partake in a final communion.  You’ll also get to meet some of the courageous staff and congregation who have remained until the end – it’s been far from an easy year.

I hope you are able to come and pray this service will serve you and the Kingdom well.  I look forward to seeing you.

Your friend,

Dave Meserve

Former staff (’06-’08) and current transitional pastor at Pathways Church

P.S. If you would be willing to do your own short video tribute to Pathways, instructions will be forth-coming. It will be shown at the ending service. ”
