April 7 – Intro: Finding Yourself in the Grand Narrative
April 14- Story 1: Our Story of Origin…Every story has a “prequel.” It involves your birth narrative where themes are discovered that set up the rest of your story. Your origin is not out of nothing; you were born into a story already in motion.
April 21 – Story 2: Our Story of Shalom…Every life has places and people of shalom who made the world safe. These are pictures of the Garden of Eden and our particular shalom says something unique about us and orients us for our future.
April 28 – Story 3: Our Story of Stirrings…God is always stirring up His creation as He calls us to join the party. From a young age, we hear these stirrings in what captures our imagination and calls us to something bigger than ourselves.
May 5 – Story 4: Our Story of Arrows…The order and beauty inherent in creation is challenged when chaos enters our lives. The relationships designed to bring us life are damaged and distorted. Our arrows have us becoming orphans, strangers, and widows in our world.
May 12 – Story 5: Our Story of Shadows…With tragedy comes the temptation to find life apart from God’s path. We stay busy to inoculate us from tragedy or seek vengeance. We sacrifice our callings and trust false prophets. Our shadow is our response to the arrows that have come to us.
May 19 – Story 6: Our Story of Illumination…Every good story is ultimately about the hope for transformation. Overcoming fears and bringing light to our shadows are evidence that we have tasted a new way to live. Illumination scenes remind us that we are forgiven and that order and beauty can be restored from the chaos.
May 26 – Story 7: Our Story of Elixer…Finally, we “return home” as new people with new gifts to offer. We understand that to sacrificially serve others in our unique way is the calling of our lives. We find ourselves in solidarity with the way of Jesus whose death and resurrection provides elixir for the world.
