"...from childhood you have know the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise..."
At Pathfinders we believe that parents, not the church, have the greatest opportunity to impact the faith decisions that a child makes. That is why it is our desire to synchronize our efforts with the efforts of parents. We want what we teach to match up with what parents teach.
One way that we do this is as children leave their Sunday School class we provide handouts that are designed to be used by parents to reinforce the lesson taught during Sunday School to each child during the week.
Wash Park's Children's Ministry
Walkers, Trekkers, and Hikers
(3 months - 5 year-olds)
In all of our classes for children 2 years old - 6th grade, we use a curriculum called Gospel Light. Gospel Light is one of the highest rated Sunday School Curriculums in the United States.
A few key strategies that we live by each Sunday:
- Explore the truth of God's word through exciting, bible-based music, Visual Aides, crazy fun and the kids readiness to know what real life and faith is like.
- Ultimately parents have the best opportunity and the largest share of responsibility to raise their children spiritually, not the church! Each and every Sunday we do all that we possibly can to ensure that a child's experience in our Pathfinders Children's Ministry is the best learning environment, where they can take significant steps in their faith. However, we know that at most we will only have around 50 hours a year with each child. During that same year the average parent will share well over 3000 hours a year with their child. The difference in opportunity of the possible quantity of quality times shared is staggering! We believe that God designed families as the very best place for children to learn about and grow close to Him. With that in mind each Sunday we provide parents with ideas for spiritual conversation with their child at home.

Uptown's Children's Ministry

Childcare — 3 months - 1 year
We provide childcare for children ages 3-23 months. We use age-appropriate toys and our knowledge of child development principles to care for your child in a stimulating and fun environment. We keep our ratio of children to adults low in these classes (3:1) so as to provide the safest environment for your kids!
Classes
2- and 3-year-olds
4- and 5-year-olds
For both of these age groups, we teach using a curriculum called First Look. The benefits of this curriculum are:
- We teach less for more - Repeats one key truth (Bottom Line) all month long.
- We engage the five senses - Helps master the concept through creative activities.
- We teach with the end in mind - Helps a child by age five, to believe:
- God Made Me
- God Loves Me
- Jesus Wants to be My Friend Forever
- We experience worship - Encourages children to talk to God any time, any place.
- We connect at home - Provides parents with ideas for conversation with their child at home.
K - 4th Grade
For this age group, we use the next step of the curriculum, which is called 252Basics. 252Basics is a unique approach to curriculum. It is built around three Basic Truths every child should embrace according to what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52.
- I need to make the wise choice.
- I can trust God no matter what.
- I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
Each Basic Truth is amplified by a weekly key concept and systematically taught over a three-year track. The curriculum includes 150 Bible stories and is based on a Core Virtue and Memory Verse as the framework for each month.
