Habitat for Humanity - Spring 2008 Project

Pathways is working in partnership with the Metro Denver Habitat for Humanity and The Future Faith Network, a strategic collaborative of several Denver-area churches. The current build site that we are working on is at 708 Lowell Blvd. in the Barnum Neighborhood on the near west side of the city. The home is on a site where 2 duplexes are being built - we are building half of a single duplex for the Mosquera family. The build is expected to be complete by mid-summer.

The Mosquera Family

Mary Ann Mosquera, her son Mario (14) and her nephew Mario (14) have struggled for years to find a decent and affordable place to call home. They currently live in a 3-bedroom apartment which is part of an affordable housing complex managed by the city of Denver. Although their current rental is suitable, they are looking forward to moving into their new Habitat home which is being built specifically for their family size and needs.

Mary Ann is excited about the opportunity of homeownership because it means a safe and stable environment for her son and nephew to grow up in. This home will provide a place for Mary Ann to live for the rest of her life and to someday pass on to her children. Mary Ann feels that she will finally be able to live the American dream.

Mary Ann currently works at a local non-profit where she helps council families facing homelessness. Mary Ann has been encouraging the families she helps to attend a Habitat for Humanity homeowner orientation - and she decided to attend an orientation herself to find out specific details about the program. After learning more about the program she realized that she could qualify and filled out an application right then and there.

The Mosquera family is very grateful at the opportunity of homeownership, and would like to say to their sponsor, the Future Faith Network, and their volunteers, "Thank you to each individual who has assisted Habitat for Humanity with making my dream of owning a home come true."
